Do I need internet?
Not for the most important parts: the torch, SOS, Morse, the emergency card and the basic knowledge base articles work without internet. The free map needs internet; the downloadable map that works offline is part of premium. You also need internet for downloads, updates and redeeming a code.

Will anything stop working if I do not buy a code?
No. The free part stays free, and no feature stops working.
